Appalachia 2010 Update #5

Appalachia 2010 Update #5

We are finishing our mission trip to Appalachia and return home tomorrow (Saturday). It does not seem possible! All three rehab jobs were completed in the midst of a driving rain. Tonight was capped off with a cookout at Project Worth where most of the families (the students and homeowners we served) came and joined us for dinner. The Grace Chapel and Fellowship EPC guys partnered up and grilled a ton of burgers and dogs on a giant charcoal drum grill!

Inside Project Worth we had an inflatable Space Bouncer which was constantly filled with kids! It was so much fun!

Cedar Grove EPC performed an amazing drama portraying the gospel of Jesus and Seth Underhill (the youth pastor from Cedar Grove) followed with a brief message.

The conversations continued and hugs were given and received all over. Corma, one of the residents shared about how those who worked on her home were an answer to prayer and had given her a fresh start.

Friends, God is on the move here and used your friends and children in mighty ways. We can’t wait to return and take all that we learned and begin being the church in Metro Detroit too!

The story of the day was a moment at the end of the day. A little tan blond headed 5 year old cutie walked up to Josh Walker and tugged on his shorts. He looked down at the little princess and smiled. He dropped to his knees and she gave him the biggest bear hug ever! It was one of those moments that will forever be embedded in my memory and clearly displayed the great love our father has for us!
