Appalachia 2010 Update #4

Today was, in a word, “HOT”. The weather index was well over 100 and real temps in the 100s. In spite of the heat God was at work. The three work crews expect to be done by lunch tomorrow. This is truly amazing. Last year on Thursday night we were crying out to God and begging for him to expand our time. This year we were rejoicing together over all that God…

Appalachia 2010 Update #3

Today was another good day in Appalachia. The heat index was well over 100 degrees which made the working conditions very difficult. For me the best part of this crew is that they invited Ethan in and he worked all day! He…

A Position of Strength

Hebrews 11 Moses is commended for turning his back on the passing pleasures of sin- he was raised in wealth and privilege, a lot like me. But he chose to be identified with the Hebrews, the slaves- which reminds me of Mother Teresa, not me. Moses. His parents defied the law and did not allow their newborn son to be killed. Then they place him in a basket in a river and he…

The Point

So, a tree falls in the woods and there is no one around. No one to hear it. No one to see it. Maybe it is a woods so thick and so large that the flowers growing on the forest floor are not seen by anyone. They are beautiful, but no one knows. So what is the point? What is the point of a beautiful flower that no one will see. What is the point of a falling tree that…
