Didn’t get all this at church in the first listening so I appreciate the podcast. Wonderful context offered by Doug here. I especially appreciate how he brings out the setting where John receives this revelation – on the island of Patmos, where Roman outcasts are exiled – an important, game-changing message delivered to a societal criminal while he wastes away in exile – which means the God will not forsake me while I am in the midst of exile either. Such great hope.

I’d heard some talk about “Reel Story” around the church so I visited on August 30 for the “Dark Knight” showing. While I have found Batman movies somewhat dark and disturbing, the discussion after the showing offered great insights that could be shared with someone who has viewed the movie. I loved the concept and hope the project will continue beyond this pilot.

Yes, fear is such a huge issue surrounding this whole thing. I keep thinking that there must be something we are missing when it comes to spiritual formation that Christian parents deal with this kind of fear. It would seem that we would be able to trust God with out kids. Maybe we are missing on a right view of God or something else.
