The Point

The Point

So, a tree falls in the woods and there is no one around. No one to hear it. No one to see it.

Maybe it is a woods so thick and so large that the flowers growing on the forest floor are not seen by anyone. They are beautiful, but no one knows.

So what is the point? What is the point of a beautiful flower that no one will see. What is the point of a falling tree that no one will hear?

Do you ever ask that question of yourself? What is the point? What is the point of what I do?

I have. A lot. But then I probably over-think a lot of things. And I very rarely have an answer to the myriad questions I ask.

Today, however, a light went on. I love light. I love brightness and seeing and warmth and comfort. I love light. I love that Jesus says he is light. We know light, but we don’t know God very well, so Jesus says, I am light. And what he’s saying is, I created light to help you understand who I am. Light.

And that is the answer to my question.

A flower grows in a woods so thick no one will ever see it. What is the point?

God.

God is the point. He designed the flower, not just its looks, but how it lives, how it grows, what environment it needs. And the flower is where it is at the pleasure of God.

And so am I.

God was pleased to think me up, create me, design me, make me look, work, feel, the way I do. I am where I am because it pleases him for me to be here.

And though no one may see me, no one may hear me, no one may acknowledge me, that is not the point.

The point is and always will be God.
